if this were a reality... a bridge makes more sense. Cheaper. Less complex and less upkeep. The only reason that the is Bridge and tunnels in Norfolk area is the Navy did not want bridges that could potentially be bombed and block the main fleet in norfolk
Hey Adi, I noticed the link to your map isn't working. Do you still have the map up somewhere? I was just reading up on Virginia DOT's proposal from 8 years ago to establish an Interstate highway corridor between Wilmington DE and Charleston SC via the Delmarva Peninsula. It would be interesting to see how your proposal could, in theory, tie into that proposal.
A Cape May to Lewes route looks like it would be a 30% shorter tunnel. Much cheaper.
Your current route probably has more environmental impact as that area has be touched less.
I think any planner would say the cape may route would serve both Vineland and Cape May, but a vineland route would not serve cape may
I will be posting a proposed NJ transit line along the Freeway 55 corridor,
there already is a rt 55-esque light rail line for 55 being planned.
it follows the same towns as 55 basically, but runs along existing lines for lower cost Glassboro-Camden Line
If anyone wanted to run trains along the highway, its touhg to beat rt 42

They are instead planning on building a bus-rapid-transit line on Route 42 by 2020.
keep dreaming, we're lucky to maintain our current infrastructure.. it's not like there are jobs in NJ or DE/PA to make the area more inter-connected
