I've just been hired to work at Rider University and am considering living in Philadelphia. I'm moving from Denver, CO, and have always wanted to live there but other than the commute, not sure if its worth it? Any help or input on where to live?

Thanks!

Are you set on living in an urban area or would you consider suburban? If you live in Philadelphia the commute to Rider wouldn't be too bad. Probably 45-50min each way as you would be going against the majority of traffic.

I've driven in Denver a lot, and you will be pleasantly surprised by this commute. If it were the other way around I'd be wary of it, but 95 is essentially a straight shot to Rider. You don't want to live in North Philly though. Consider Bensalem or Bristol as alternatives.

I was thinking of living in downtown philadelphia and taking the train/bus, I just don't know the ease/time of it?

You would have to take Septa to the Trenton Train Station then the 606 bus to Rider Un.
So say you catch the train at 30th St in Philly, it's about a 50 min. train ride to Trenton then a 20 min. bus trip to Rider.
I'd say a minimum of an hour and a half commute depending on your connections and commute times.

On a 5 day work week, a month of train rides will cost you well over $150.00 (not including bus fares). Not to mention you're more likley to be shot in Filthadelphia than you are likley to hit the Mega Millions lottery.
If you're going to work at Ryder, I would suggest looking in Hamilton Twp., NJ or Lawrenceville, NJ. That is, if you ever like to see the occasional blade of grass.
