I came across the following post while searching for info about the cost of apartment utilities in and around Burlington County.
I was considering moving to this complex, but now I'm a little hesitant. I don't want to be hit with a $300 utility bill on top of the rent. I was told by the rental agent that everything in the apartment is electric: heating, cooking, washer/dryer. Also have to pay own water & sewer bill. Does $300 sound about right?

300.00 is nonsense. I lived in a complex {sunset heights} in burlington twp. It was a large 1 bedroom downstairs with electric heat and January the most i paid was 80 or 90 for my highest electric bill to keep the place warm. I don't know where the other 200 comes from, in my complez we used quarters to wash and dry so water/sewer/poor insulation must be the bulk of that 300 at fox glenn, which is a far bigger complex by the way, they have gated entrance and walls around it so maybe all those things make it more costly.
I called PSE&G today and they told me the average cost of the utilities (which are ALL electric) for the particular apartment I inquired about (2nd floor, 1 bedroom, 798 sq. ft.) was $200!
Does anyone have any idea how much cheaper the utilities would be for a similiar apartment with gas heat?
I chose a third party electricity provider. I am SAVING money month after month. The rates are cheaper than the public utility. SAME BILL, SAME SERVICE, LOWER PRICE
I own a 2nd floor - 2br condo - 1100sf roughly in Burlington County. Everything in my apartment is electric. The MOST I have ever paid for electric from PSE&G was $200 and I believe it was in January (I keep therostat at about 65-66). I'd say normally it is about $150/month. Water/sewer is almost always $30/month.
I think there are way too many factors when it comes to utility bills to really be able to make a comparison. For instance, the previous owners of my house provided their utility bills so we could see what the costs would be. We are a little higher on electric, but way lower on gas and water. Everyone is different.
If the utilities are that big of an issue, I would suggest looking for apartments that include as many utilities as possible. I know quite a few place include heat and water/sewer.
