I am thinking about going to Wildwood Crest in September after Labor day with a friend. I want to go to the beach. I am trying to plan around going whale watching in Cape May which is why I was thinking Wildwood Crest. I heard that Wildwood is a drinking party town. But I thought it would be better in September. SO no more teens and students. I want a boardwalk but also want somewhat quiet and not crazy but I want things to do. So ruled out Cape May. So is Wildwood Crest an option? Is the boardwalk open after Labor Day? If not Wildwood Crest where would you recommend that is not far from Cape May?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do keep in mind the NJ Firefighters Convention is about that time annually and they usually book most of the hotel rooms in town, well for 2 days anyway:

This Year's Convention Dates : September 17 & 18, 2010

Wildwood Crest is a very nice area. It's not really a crazy party town any time of year (Wildwood is, but not the Crest). September is a great month to come! Most things in OC are still open in fall, Wildwood I assume is the same. They just close earlier (don't expect rides till midnight like in summer) and some stores, etc. may be weekends only. Also keep in mind guarded beaches are more sporadic in the fall - here only certain beaches are guarded in the fall, so WC may be the same. You may want to find out which ones have lifeguards so you can get a hotel nearby, especially if you have kids. There are always several drownings down here in the fall due to lack of lifeguards,

Wildwood has 3 sections: North Wildwod, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest. The beaches are just as nice in North Wildwood so you might want to try that area too.

Posters here pretty much summed it up.Check with the local calendar to see what events are being held as hotels/motels will be booked up and you want to avoid the noisy crowds. And I believe things keep going on in Wildwood until November(??). Have a great time!

Wildwood i actually a GREAT place to be... Sept Oct... you are at the beach... able to walk to the boadwalk..... yes there ae motorcycle weekend, and firemans weekend.. to go along with but when are you coming????? next weekend is actually Irish Wekend actually held in North Wildwood so.... staying in central Wildwood would put you at the peace and quiet you may like but close enought o the action if you wish to partake in the Free shuttle buses. The boardwalk is stillopen and everything is walkable. No matter where you end u it will all be fun... I prefer WILDWOOD you do what you wish but it's all at your doorstep!!!!
