If it's a personal above ground pool I wouldn't sweat the labor day thing do it when you get time before it gets cold follow the directions. However if your talking about a in ground semi privet community pool you should call a pool company to do it for you. There is some things with chemical buckets, anti freeze, filter prep that you need to do. You should schedule an apt with the pool company when they did the opening in may. Now there gonna be busy and most run on a first come first serve. You may end up not getting a appointment until mid September. I would say also to make the appointment to open the pool when they close it for the same reasons
It really depends on the forecast for the month of September... if it starts cooling off then we usually do it labor day. If it looks like an Indian summer is approaching we keep it open until October. We have used Blu Sol Pools for many years and they are FANTASTIC. They do everything and are a bargain.
