To me it seems the only thing Hoboken has going for itself is its location just across the river from NYC. Now if you have to travel by car, that becomes somewhat of a minus because getting in and out of Hoboken involves crowded small roads in between the Lincoln & Holland Tunnels which very often have considerable backups themselves, then parking in Hoboken becomes a PITA also.

In your case I'd search elsewhere.

The worst about Mo'town seems to be a corrupt courthouse and legal system which lots of lawyers feed off of, so as long as you don't get sucked into that trap you should be ok.

The area around Parsippany is typical suburban then going towards rural the further out you go, although nearby would be expensive rural meaning large country type houses, etc. Not too familiar with nightlife there, some typical inns in rockaway, maybe Boonton is a upwards coming town just N of parsipanny.

Yeah, if you claim residency there (dont know how long it has to be) and decide to leave NJ....they wack you on an exit tax! They truly dont want you to leave. You get wacked leaving NJ to go in NYC through the tunnels and bridges but not vice versa...you get hit leaving NJ to go into PA.

Great place to live...guess its just been a real hard move for me so I'm kinda bitter but Wisconsin...its a nice place I guess
