The one that comes to mind in my many eating experiences in AC would be the Baltimore Grill. You might be intimidated at first entering the place, because I remember it being very dark the first time I walked in there, but on that and on the other occasion I've eaten there, I was treated both times to a very good meal, and it won't shatter your budget.
I am a big seafood fan, so another place that is worth a mention, but not in AC, but on Brigantine, there is Brigantine Seafood. It's worth the extra 5-10 minutes to cross the bridge, if you like seafood, to dine there.
I actually love Breadsticks, the casual restaurant in Resorts (casual but still nice and pretty). I have never had a bad meal, and the service is always good, too. I ate once at Evo, on the boardwalk in Trump Plaza, and I loved my meal there. It has a very varied price range - while I find the appetizers a bit expensive, the range of entree prices is about $15 to $30, but there are a lot to choose from in the lower range. It is really beautiful, too. Baltimore Grill is good too (been there forever and gets huge crowds) but it is a rather run down bar atmosphere, so depends what you are looking for. Los Amigos, the Mexican restaurant a few blocks walk (down by The Walk) from the boardwalk, is good too and very reasonable. If you like a southern flair, House of Blues in the Showboat has a great menu and is reasonable. The Quarter at the Tropicana has a number of reasonable places, including the Irish pub/restaurant upstairs (I forget the name) and PF Chang's. If you want a special experience for a little more $, Cubra Libre in the Quarter is very nice, with entrees ranging from the low to high $20's, but unlike many of the gourmet restaurants in AC, they come with veggie and starch sides vs. everything being ala carte, which makes it a much better deal. All the casinos have buffets, but I have never eaten at one because everytime I've tried the line's been too long and I am not patient enough to stand in line for an hour when I'm hungry.
P.S. you can find most if not all of these restaurant menus online at the restaurants' websites.

I was considering mentioning L.A. to Roselvr as well, but I am glad you did. Definitely worth a mention, good by N.J. mexican food standards.
If you don't mind taking a walk or cab from Trump, I would recommend Carmine's in the Tropicana. The food is excellent. If you eat early (before 3:00) the lunch menu is in play and it has excellent choices at reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed. Just be warned that the portions are large.
I bring an insulated bag filled with ice and stash my Carmine's leftovers in it! The food is too good to leave behind what you can't finish. LOL Also love The Knife and Fork Inn, Docs and The Continential.

Aren't you supposed to order for the whole table though?

Let's just say when it comes to eating, I don't share well , You are right thought, If we go down with friends (party of 4) we normally order 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 deserts and that's more than enough food.
So we ended up eating at a place called Plate in Taj Mahal. We were both tired from walking around; saw there was no line there & decided that's where we were going.
As far as the room at the Taj mahal- it was pretty gross. I ended up sending a letter complaining. When we walked in the room the TV didn't work; so we called to get it fixed (was not the remote- one of the cleaning staff ruled it out) & after we got back from the concert; we saw that the place was pretty dusty. The air vents had an inch of dust on it; there was also heavy dust in the corners of the room as well as on the lamps.
