I need some help.

On the 26th, we have some family coming from out of town just for the day and I am trying to find something to do with them. They will only be here for a couple of hours so that kind of removes the city from the equation.

Does anyone know of any fun, family activities the Friday after Thanksgiving that doesn't include shopping?

I was thinking of things like:

+ Old Christmas movies shown in theaters
+ Holiday concerts
+ etc...

Also, I am looking for activities in Northern NJ (Morris, Sussex, Essex, etc.)

For just a few hours how about relaxing at home, eating leftovers and watching old Christmas Movies on the TV via a DVD? Or do they want to actually go somewhere?

I would assume any holiday concerts would be at night.

They want to go somewhere and do something- otherwise I would totally agree with you.

Why not drive around small towns & look at Christmas decorations? Sure, they won't be lit, but they'll be up. Just keep away from malls.

Go to the Newark Museum or Liberty Science Center , LSC always has something fun to see and do this time of year or take a small Ferry Cruise on the Ferry Taxi.

If the weather is nice, downtown Chester is nice. Technically it includes shopping, but not the black friday mall crazy kind.

I think Black Friday is only really crazy in the morning, then after all good deals are gone so are the people, not all but a lot of them. Besides that basicaly is the kick off of the holiday shopping season so there will be tones of people out.
