Hi,
We are considering moving to Millburn. Our oldest daughter is in Kindergarten now and has an IEP (from Pennsylvania). She struggled with speech, OT & PT for a while but has since made substantial progress (she still has some speech issues and gets special morning class with other kids who have speech issues before she is mainstreamed into the normal Kindergarten class in the afternoon). OT and PT are not serious issues anymore.
I have read some pretty negative things on Special Education in Millburn in these forums and wanted to get a few more data points and color. If you are a parent of kid(s) with special ed needs, I would very much appreciate it if you can tell me about your experience. Thank you.
Call the school district central office and ask to speak to the person in charge of Pupil Personnel Services, or the person in charge of overseeing the student support services. They should offer you the seat time to interview them, review the IEP and discuss what services they will provide, the classroom setting, and offer you the opportunity to observe. As a potential homeowner, resident, taxpayer, the school district should be receptive to your inquiries and developing a partnership for your child's education.
