My husband and I have lived in Bloomfield for a few years, but only in the last year we've started taking the shuttle bus to the train station for the morning commute. I think the driver deserves a holiday tip as he's always on time, waits for us a minute or two if we're not at the corner like we usually are, and is just a really pleasant guy. Does tipping seem appropriate? We don't recall seeing anyone else do it last year when we first started taking the shuttle.
If it does seem appropriate, what do you think would be the right amount?
Just put it in a card and slip it to him. I think $10-$20 would be plenty as he probably doesn't get many gifts. I gave my gyro guy in the city $10 today I think he was very happy (I really do not think anyone else tips their gyro guy)
I don't think it's required or expected but it's that much more special since it's truly genuine not just a "got you this cause I have to get you something"
If it's a large bus company I would reccommend looking on the company's website and see if they have gift guidelines, certain companies do not allow their employees to recieve gift over a certain dollar amount or of a certain nature (ex: cash, booze, jewelry, etc.), last thing you want is your good natured gesture to get the guy in trouble.
