Racism in U.S. is alive and kicking. The worse the economy the worse it seems to get. Living in NJ requires money (taxes, car and health insurance alone will eat you alive). An extremely high tolerance for road rage and an affinity to accept the people's State bird of choice. You can do that...you're good!

Default The focus is more so on America

I was going by the TIME magazine article, again it said Indians were called dotheads and all of those names in that state, I wonder if the animosity is still around.

Also with people sharing their stories of facing racism there you do need to realize I have my reasons to wonder on about why what happens.

I do not understand some of the comments here. Nobody is denying that there is racism here in NJ or in the US. But the incidence is very few as said by many here and probably have more to do with classism than racism. I have lived in the US for two years about fifteen years back and have lived in Canada for the last eight years before coming to NJ. I have faced very few incidences of discrimination if at all. But my question is why bother with very very few low lifes of the world? 99.99% of people I meet and intereact here are wonderful and have no issues what so ever. By focussing on the very few you are generalizing and being unfair to the overwhelming majority.

By the way, I am originally from a neighboring country of India (not Pakistan).

Indians do face some racism, but it depends on location and economics.

Indians in middle to upper class living in upscale towns face very little to no racism especially if there are other Indians in the area. My friend lives in upscale Monroe and has many Indian neighbors. They are doing very well there.

Working class or small business owners Indians living in urban areas or even rural areas definitely get alot of racism. Mostly because of job scarcity and poverty, the racial majority have a tendency to blame "outsiders" for taking jobs or business.

Who gives a F***. Chill out dude. I feel you are simply looking for some gossip. I am Indian and have lived in this country, I call home, for 11years, been in TX & NY and find 99% of the people around very friendly. Racism is still alive but people know not to say it. The ones who say it are morons.

Okay so i didn't have a chance to read the entire thread but I will say that I am from Holmdel and there was a strong Indian and Asian population. I didn't experience racism except for a few minor remarks from ignorant people.
