We are looking for a secular (non-Orthodox) or mixed Jewish/non-Jewish neighborhood. Do those exist in these towns? I know places like Tenafly and Fair Lawn also have strong jewish communities but the commute is longer. Any advice would be appreciated, the more specific the better (like specific boundaries of neighborhoods).

Both towns do have, what you are calling, "non-Orthodox" neighborhoods. I don't know how much house you will get for $600k (or $500k for that matter). You may want to consider those other towns (Fair Lawn specifically) in order to get more value, more house for your money, etc. Fair Lawn is only 5-7 miles further west (Rt. 4) than Teaneck. Yes, those 5 miles can equate to a lot vis a vis a rush-hour traffic commute, but there is still a "lifestyle" discussion aspect to it.
Good luck.
