Without traffic you can get into the city in 15 minutes. Fort Lee is right over the George Washington Bridge. With traffic it can take you over 30 minutes.

There are many options. You can take the bus across the GW bridge which should take anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on traffic and where you will be taking the bus from in Fort Lee. Then you would need to take the subway (the A train) to downtown (you will probably have to switch subways somwhere if the A train doesnt take you to where you need to go downtown).

Also, you can the bus into the Port Authority which is about a 45-60 minute bus ride and then you will either take a subway or a bus downtown. You should try both routes and see which one works better for you. I lived in Fort Lee for 2 years and worked in midtown. I preferred taking the bus to the GW terminal and then the subway to midtown.

Smile Question

Do you know how much the buses cost from Fort lee to NYC - and what is the bus company name? Is it private or public?

the shuttle buses across the GWB are one dollar.

You could also ride a bike across, then tie it somewhere and then take the train. It would be cheaper

unless it is an extremely crappy bike it might not be there when you return

You can take a bus across the GWB for 1 dollar but that is sketchy. NJ transit buses basically serve all of northern NJ and will take you to the Port Authority in Midtown. Its definitely gonna be a bit of a trip seeing as you work downtown.

You could bike across the bridge!
