There are many things wrong conceptually with this Nazi style highway robbery. No chance to dispute anything about whom may have been driving the vehicle, etc. They slide by because there are no points so 99% of people will let them get away with it. the concept is inequitable in all possible ways as I see it.
That is outright disgusting in concept. In all possible ways. I know someone who received one of those from Linden, but all I have to say, if it was me, I might be practicing my civil liberties taking the thing down so it couldn't ROB anyone else. That is not any sort of acceptable system, nothing but a robbery.
your issue is with the law on the books, not on the effective enforcement of the law....
I was ticketed a few months ago. It was $140, however no points. I was able to see the video online; I didn't run a red- I just didn't stop *completely* before making a right on red. They just installed the red-light camera in Roselle Park this month-watch out everyone =(
That's pretty much what our tickets were for; not coming to a complete stop.
The ones from Deptford were $85 for the same offense; the one in Linden was higher because it was a safe corridor.

I don't have much of a problem with the law, wouldn't make any sense unless everyone else chose to disregard that, and thatis not likely to happen in this country anytime soon.
My beef is that this is not any sort of enforcement, just a cash register tied to humanity's movements and illegal and immoral in my book.
I just wanted to share this since it's something to keep in mind if anyone here DOES get a ticket from these cameras....
My sister lives in Linden and got one of these tickets. She had a friend in Law enforcement tell her that the ticket will not count as a moving violation or points as they cannot *prove* who was driving the vehicle. You just get a fine. If you were to go to court or fight the ticket, it would be like saying "yes it was me who drove through the red light" and thus you run the risk of getting the moving violation/points as if an actual cop saw you do it and pulled you over.

so enforcement to you is parking a human at the intersection, who, if he/she catches someone, needs to spend a good 5-10 minutes pulling that person over, running the plate, writing the ticket, handing the ticket to the driver, and then driving back to their post at the intersection? aside from the risk an officer is exposed to during even routine traffic stops, this horribly inefficient use of a police officer's time is the preferred method of enforcement for you, versus putting a camera at the intersection that can take multiple photos as the light changes from green to yellow to red, and then software can determine if the vehicle was in the intersection prior to the yellow light, or however a state defines the law, and then automatically generate a ticket and mail them the ticket?
this is precisely why our government is so inefficient. not because government is inefficient, but because people are so freaking terrified of allowing the government to use basic technology that has helped make private corporations so efficient over the past 30 years.
it's unbelievable the logical roller coaster ride people will take you on to prove why technology shouldn't be used in government.
red light cameras are a NO BRAINER expense on the government side. it either frees up police officers to do more important work, or it allows the town to operate with fewer police officers. either way...taxpayers of a given town WIN. the only losers are the people who run red lights, breaking the law.
don't run red lights, and this is a meaningless conversation...
No, enforcement to me is usually unnecessary and not the responsibility of any government. Police should be doing police work and not be involved with motor vehicle matters unless they are requested.
Too many persons have accepted them as the hall monitors of life and i am questioning that concept.
