Say that you are buying a house and have a real estate agent. Can your real estate agent offer to give you a percentage of their commission to earn your business? Say to help with closing costs, etc.
Is this legal? Is it allowed? How would this be proved - you shouldn't just take their word. Would it be in your contract?
I'm not a lawyer and if a client asked me to help with closing costs... I'd have to talk with a lawyer first. As Realtors our commission is ALWAYS negotiable. That's the real point. I have agreed to reduce my commission slightly to help close a deal BUT I have never paid closing or other transaction costs from my commission.. don't know if that helps
