How can this be? I couldn't believe my ears I had to go back and make sure I really heard that on Piers Morgan the other night-Did this truly shock anyone else or is my world so small down here in Toms River in my 1.500 sq ft house.

Nope I know places in NYS where property tax is $20,000. These are areas where folks dont make much. I thought NJ was better off. The tri state area is sinking fast.....run

It's not particularly shocking. There are over 1,200 properties in Somerset County alone that have annual property tax bills higher than $38,000.

What do you mean you thought NJ was better off? It's well known, and often complained about, that NJ has the highest properrty taxes in the nation.

he lives in Mendham, right? I'm surprised it's "only" $38K. There are no shortage of properties in Mendham with taxes exceeding $100K.

Well, that's not entirely true. There are fewer than 10 properties in Mendham with taxes of $100k or more.

But there are at least 150 properties in town with tax bills higher than Christies.

Damn, that's twice as much what I pay... although my house is larger than 1500 sq feet.

Keep in mind it takes land into consideration.
