Does anyone have any experience with this? If so can you recommend a company to contact? I have two companies that are coming out to give me estimates but nothing yet.

Please let me know.
Thanks!
You may be surprised at the quotes you will get. I've done it myself twice. My home and my neighbors. It's more involved than removing the old doors, cutting out the center section and installing the new single door. In my case I needed to put in temporary supports when I removed the center section between the two doors. Chisel out the cinder block that supported the framework between the two doors then finish level with concrete. Since I was going to eventually enlarge the bedroom that was over the garage I opted for a triple 2X10 with a flinch plate to support the house above the new garage door opening (your situation may be a bit different). It took us (2 people) three 8 hour days to finish the job which included all final trim work (vinyl coated aluminum). Let us know what kind of quotes you get. Good luck to you.
Wanna come do mine? I'll pay? I will. Thanks. My garage is detached with only an attic above, no living space.
It won't matter that there is no living space above. Your roof load is carried to the outer walls for support. You will have to install temporary supports before removing the two existing doors (not a big deal, but it has to be done).
