He's got to show some results of instituting policies than can help get NJ out of it's post-Keane fiscal decline before he can offer up anything at the national level.

Dumb move, imo.

Just remain idealistic and pay all of your taxes.

Just the opposite of a fad; it's been going on since antiquity. And what's been equally going on is that the elder generations believe the younger ones are the most disrespectful, lazy, good for nothings in history.

However, nothing ever changes; either the youth make the same mistakes as their parents, or if they avoid them they instead repeat their grandparents mistakes. And eventually -- once the grip of the elder's authority is weakened -- they take responsibility, for there is no one else to do so.

Every generation feels the same as yours. Sorry to say you guys are not unique. It isn't availability of information that changes opinions, it's experience. As you gain experience, you will understand the silliness of you current opinions.

However, the attribution is false. There is no record of Churchill ever speaking these words, and it is highly unlikely that he would have because Churchill himself did precisely the opposite. He entered politics as a Conservative and was a Conservative at age 25. He switched to the Liberal Party at age 29 and was a Liberal at age 35. (He returned to the Conservatives at age 49.) Also, his beloved wife, Clementine, was a life-long Liberal, and Churchill would hardly have delivered such an indirect insult to her.

It should also be remembered that "Liberal" and "Conservative" are the proper names of British political parties and do not translate precisely to the left and right wings of the American political spectrum. Being a conservative in socialist Britian today would be about equal to being a Democrat in the United States, our "liberal" party. We don't have anything as left wing as their Liberal party.
If you have any knowledge of Churchill's history, you would know he was a liberal as a youngster and, obviously, a conservative as he aged. It is very likely he said this. If you read his letters to Clementine, you would understand this was very much his opinion.

Christie has no chance & he knows it....................... He was only tapped by the neo cons (who now reluctantly aline themselves with the "teaparty" because they are going with whatever works to snatch power) to be a goon in the Garden State. Break unions & weaken the democratic stronghold in a blue state under the guise of "property tax relief". How's that working out?
Rove saw the potential in Christie early on.
He collects for the GOP. He might as well wear a leather coat & drive a Cadillac. He's the Jersey thumb breaker for the right.
His obnoxious behavior won't play well in the South. His schtick only works with the bitter North East Repub types. Not the Jesus, firearm, nascar loving good ol folk elsewhere.
As soon as the right has squeezed him for all he's worth, he will just be a sad memory with no national political future.

He doesn't play well in South Jersey. The majority there consider themselves to be MidAtlantic & loud-mouthed & coarse does not play well.

I've seen him repeatedly wise off at reporters & anchors working for NBC. When Irene hit, they got their revenge. Could they play Gov. Bev Perdue calmly requesting evacuation back to back with Christie yelling "Get the hell off the beach" any more than they did? I think not.

Christie &/or Perry would be a dream come true for the Democrats next year.

I dont think he should do it as he is inexperienced, but if it was Obama vs Christie, I would vote for Christie.

I think he would be pretty good on the national level. Budget cuts as well as higher taxes on the wealthy is what needs to happen to get the deficit under control. The massive debt adds uncertainty, which kills jobs.

The federal govt needs to stop having so much debt, so when a terrible economic situation like the current one happens, they can increase spending and create some jobs to ease the pain. But it doesnt work when the federal govt has a massive debt lingering causing uncertainty for everyone.

By the time the newer generation matures they'll be older and greyish.

I am 25, so I have the maturity of a 16 year old even though I have had a full time job for years, graduated college, have had my own apartment for years, and make a very good salary? All while being dealt the worst hand in terms of the economy as a whole since the great depression?
