There needs to be an Anti-Nimby law in this state , some of these questions , like where will train users go to bathroom are ridiculous. The town is also lying about how many businesses will be taken , only 1 will need to be demolished. And Average wait at a gated LRT crossing is 25secs....and LRT trains yield to Emergency responders....not that theres many emergencies in Tenafly.... I think NJT should just go will the cheaper Englewood option and a decade from now extend the line northward to Nyack.
It seems most of the people in Tenafly who oppose then plan have the most to gain from it , ie Elderly people who should not be driving after a certain age.
Do freight trains use that line right now? If so, don't they already make noise, etc?
Yes , twice a day , not as busy as the line to the west which gets 25 freight trains a day... LRT project would replace the tracks which have caused derailments in Tenafly in the past...and the crossings would be made Quiet Crossings so no more horn blowing. Sounds like a win - win?

Not to mention the gorgeous stations along the line possibly seeing some kind of use again.
Do you know if they'd re-double track the entire line?
The whole line , with a flyover over the CSX tracks near North Bergen which is half of the project cost.
Oh right, aren't they actually moving some of the CSX yard over to allow for the LRT's new ROW?
