Hi,

Looking for feedback, opinions and suggestions on buying a new townhouse for our selves (Me, wife and 19 months old baby boy).

Currently living in a appartment in Edison.
Daily commute to Piscataway for work.

Saw the new Ryan Homes town houses currently in devlopement with a community for 50 homes and 25 already occupied.
The only reason appealing us to this town is the price for a new townhouse 3 bd , 3 ba in low 200K. But really looking for your thoughts as to the schools , area and people and suggestion before we decide to close the deal by end of next month.

Or may be some other town under 250k for a new 3 bd 2 ba town or single family.

Thanks!

Exact address for the community:
302 East Washington Ave (Rt. 57) Washington Borough, NJ 07882

Commute to Piscataway sucks, rt 31 to 22 or I78 both are traffic jams in the morning.
Look for something closer to Piscataway.

Washington itself is OK especially the surrounding countryside.

i truly despise that development. i think it's in a crappy area - one of those places where a builder is like "cool, cheap land, let's plop up some townhomes and make a killing!" - Ryan had to take it over because Toll Bros (I think) bailed.

I personally wouldn't pay $200K for those.

I think you'll have a culture shock from Washington to Piscataway. Remember on that map Washington (Warren) is "The Hill People."

We just moved up to this area. I love it here! The school (high school) is great and I'm thoroughly impressed with the challenges my girls are facing here. At their old school, they were easily on high honor roll never studying once. They are actually learning here.
There are a lot of extracirriculars (sp?) for them as well.
I can only tell you what I've heard from others on the elementary schools and they are happy.

That said, look in township while you're looking at borough. There's a lot there in the same price range and you will have more space. The taxes are cheaper in township as well. Your garbage is included in your taxes in borough, but it doesn't equal out.

Enjoy and happy moving.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced townhouse, try the Fairway Greens development in Washington Twp. It's right off of Mine Hill Road not far from the location you listed in your original post. Warren County is a great place to live. Good luck.
