Hello All,

Hope someone can help with some advice. I am getting ready to make the jump over the outer bridge to central jersey. I am interested in Matawan, Middletown and Hazlet area. I would not rule out Manalapan or Freehold but I work in Midtown Manahattan and I think the commute from those two areas would be much longer. Anyway. I am married and have a six year old and my mother in law lives with us as well. Good schools and a family friendly neighborhood are important. Is it reasonable to think I would be able to find a house in the 350 - 375 K range in these areas? I am taking a big hit on my house that I am selling now but my taxes are much lower than what they will be in Jersey.

Any info on these areas would be great. Better parts of different towns or stay away from these areas. Thanks to all in advance

Best Regards,
Mike

For commuting to Midtown, you may be better off farther North.

I think Hazlet would work well for you. It's in your price range, and the commute is not as bad as you might think. Most of the rush-hour trains only have one stop after Hazlet and then express to Newark, where you can catch PATH, or you can stay on to get to NY Penn. Hazlet's close to the beaches and accessible to everything.
