Yep! I have no problem with the Gov lowering the flag in honor of someone who was an icon to many. I also have no problem with the soldier's Dad from taking the action he did.
It's American, the land of the free. Not everyone sees everything on the same level.
True, the singer had some personal demons. But she also stepped it up religiously and patriotically at the right times.
I don't like that the soldier's Dad made a publicity stunt with the state flag, as I think he was comparing apples to oranges. Did he freak out the same way last week when they announced they'll name a naval ship after Gabby Giffords when there are so many military hero's that would have been more fitting to tab for the honor (that's my opinion)?
Will they refuse to lower the flag when Clinton passes away due to his extramarital relations?
No! Again, you can't fit every situation in a cute little box and put a bow on it. The Gov honored the singer for the positive impact she had on others. So be it. (Besides, it didn't cost the taxpayers a cent! )
1000% yes! Christie explained this decision perfectly.
"Her accomplishments in her life were a source of great pride for many people in this state and for the state as a whole, and so on that basis I think she's entitled to have that recognition," Christie told reporters last week.
I feel the dad overreacted. Everytime a fallen soldier comes home they are honored in the news, or a parade, ceremony, something. It's not like his son was denied something and Whitney received it in return.
I respect people who serve, but they volunteer, so I don't feel the flag lowering should be exclusive only to them.
