My partner and I are starting new short-term jobs in Newark and Philadelphia, and we are looking to find separate apartments that are near those cities (20-30 minute commutes to work each) but that are also as close and convenient to eachother as possible. We are both in our mid-twenties and like relatively lively places with a lot of good restaurant and bar options. Any suggestions on two NJ towns that would be a decent fit?

New Brunswick
Princeton Junction Area (Princeton Plainsboro West Windsor)

For you each to be 20-30 minutes commute, I'm not sure you could look much further than Mt Laural and Cranford, but that would still be pretty far apart. otherwise, some closer to the midpoint like Tony suggested above are worth considering, but with longer commutes.
