My husband's job requires us to move back to the US from Paris France to Little Falls New Jersey (office is on Clove Road near MSU) by the end of the year. We would like to continue my children's French education so is looking to either live in Manhattan and reverse commute or find a school near his office that has strong French language infusion.

Our preference is to live in the city, but do not want to waste too much time and energy on commuting. Does anyone know how reverse communte is like between the city and MSU? I think train is out of the question because it is not an easy walk between the station and his office. If by car, is it feasible?

If the commute is lengthy and complicated, we would then look for a neighborhood in that area that has good nursery and preschool (ideallly with French language infusion) near his office. It also should have easy access to the city. Can someone recommend me a few neighborhoods or towns? As of this point, I am more concerned about safety, amenity, schools and access to the city than about the budget. New constructions will also be a plus if it is outside of the city.

Elaine

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find any pre schools in NJ that offer French.
You may need to think perhaps about a private tutor to keep the kids up on their French.

If you're going to live in Manhattan, there are several excellent lycees: Lycee Francais de New York (they also have a website), Lycee Kennedy, among others....
