I know of some in Plainfield, and Perth Amboy, but I am sure there are more.

Perth Amboy is constructing new ones, also, in addition to the older ones.

I know there is some in Jersey City, Hoboken and Newark in Hudson Co and in Bergen County there's some in Hackensack and Englewood. Can't say which of them is good or bad, but I wouldn't prefer to live in public housing anywhere.

Could you imagine the responses if someone from NJ had the gall to ask this very same question in the NYC forum?

Probably the same condescending crap you'd hear in any exchange of NYer to someone from NJ...

Go over there and ask; I'll go get some popcorn. You'd get at least two responses basically the same as the first response on this thread, I think.

NJ is a very Progressive state. I'm confident most of your needs can be provided for.

Welcome.
