Lodging suggestions around Freehold? (vacation, area, distance)

My family will be looking for lodging in the Freehold area in a week. We're not fussy...just something relatively cheap and clean. I noticed the Brick motor inn, which is a reasonable distance away (around 17 miles), since it is also closer to the shore. Would anyone have a suggestion or two? I know some places are closed until the vacation/tourist season starts next month, but are there some decent bargains to be had? Thanks for any help!
