Hotels in the Meadowlands? (Paterson, Rutherford: restaurant, cost, club)

Hi all... I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I'm attending a convention in the Meadowlands this coming weekend and need a hotel for 3 adults for Sunday night.

I'm completely overwhelmed with all the options. Like from $80 to $250/night!

We'd like a SAFE hotel that has a restaurant attached, smoking allowed would be nice, but not a necessity.

We will have a car and don't mind driving a short distance.

Can someone PLEASE help me with recommendations? Cost is not an issue, but we surely don't need a suite with a kitchen, etc...

Where is your convention? Not at a hotel?

Thanks for the reply, Mightyqueen... the convention is at the Expo Center.

There are 2 Sheratons near the center. I really don't need pool, fitness center, gym, view of NYC, Club Lounge, WiFi, etc... for about $200/night.

Know what I mean?

theres a cheap Holiday inn express on paterson plank road. you said you dont care about cost but also dont want amenities. they usually go together

Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel rates start at 149 a night relatives stayed there and liked it alot

Try Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, and Fairfield Inn on Paterson Plank Road. These hotels have 163/164 bus which runs frequently to New York City if you are interested in visiting there.

Residence Inn is very clean and the staff is very helpful. I had relatives stay there for 2 months and they loved it. Its 5 mins from the convention center.

The "Meadowlands" is a fairly large area comprised of several towns. You would have to be a bit more specific. A convention could possibly be in Secaucus, the Sheraton in East Rutherford or even Sports complex. As it's a convention, I'm guessing it's somewhere in Secaucus. I know they have a groomers event this weekend in the Exposition Center. If that is the case, anything in Harmon Meadow (Plaza Drive ,Park Plaza Dr. or Harmon Meadow Blvd) or is within easy walking distance. Mill Creek (Lighting Way) is a bit further but you can walk to it in about 15 minutes. reastaurants are all over the place.

Here's all the area hotels. DO stay away from the Plaza Motor Inn (Rodeway Inn) and Royal Motel. A bit far and dumps. The Hilton Gardens is nice but getting to Harmon Meadow (or anywhere) requires traveling a confusing maze.
