I was on unemployment for 2 months and was offered a new position. I started this new position 1 1/2 weeks ago and reported it to unemployment yesterday. The job is way over my head with work load, the demands and the management uses bullying tactics. I feel like I am physically getting sick from the stress.

Can anyone give me feedback on whether unemployment would allow me to reopen my claim if I left the job or do I have to be fired. I feel like I am not qualified for this environment and I am drowning. Please help!

Although I sympathize with your situation, if you were to voluntarily leave a position and attempt to support yourself via unemployment while looking for another job, it would open the door for people who are 'lazy' or do not feel like working to abuse this system. You might be stuck. I am no expert, just my opinion.

I sympathize with you. You may be able to claim that you're unqualified for the job as a reason you want to leave. Google it and see what you get. If you don't show up you'll be fired for cause.

I'm very happy to say that I am not that kind of person. I had every intention of this position working out and when I was unemployed, it was only for 2 months. But, I see your point. However, no job is worth your health.

Thank-you. I thought about that. I wouldn't just not show up though.

I'd say just start looking for something else and stay as long as you can stand it. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get u/e benefits if you quit.

I think you are most likely correct. Today was a much better day so I will give it some time and see what happens. Thank-you all for your very supportive responses.

You pay for unemployment insurance so if you qualify you qualify. Just like with disability and Social Security.

Agree. I regrouped and went in with a different attitude yesterday. It's just maintaining when upper management is doing their thing. I just have to stand my ground. Thank-you. We shall see what happens. I will take it a day at a time.
