Hi everybody!

I need to park in Jersey City for a few days due my temporary work arrangements and I wonder if I can just leave a car in a parking lot for a supermarket or some other large store for the entire day? Did anybody do this and how was your experience? Can it be towed? Please help

Thank you

I'm pretty sure you can expect to be towed. Think--how many hundreds/thousands of people before YOU thought of that idea?

Your car will most likely not be parked where you left it upon your arrival back home.

I would bet my last dollar you WILL be towed. There is a local tow operator who has his employees or relatives or whomever watching the lots and as soon as 2 hours is up or maybe even sooner they steal your car away and you will pay a handsome ransom to get it back. About $125 or $200 or so. Much cheaper to park elsewhere legally.

Is parking in a supermarket lot possible?
Surely

Is it likely that your car will be towed in less than 4 hours?
Definitely

You will be towed. Most towns in North Bergen county area and Hudson county areas watch their spaces like hawk because it is close to city and often experienced/experiences non-locals coming in to park their cars to take the train/bus/ferry to city. As well as just parking there for whatever else.

You might as well bite the bullet and pay for parking fee. Not worth getting towed.

There are a few options to park for the full day in Newport for $10 (if you want your car to be there when you return)!

I know at least two instances where the car was towed within 4 minutes. They had hardly walked out of the strip mall premise and were crossing the road to go to Newport mall, the towing guys got to their car. They had to pay CASH right then to get their car or pay double that amount at the towing facility.
