I know there a tax payable to NJ when you sell your NJ house which you get back in a year. (to protect against liens?) Do you need to file something to get your money?
Is there another tax that you pay (and do you get it back) if you move out-of-state?

Never heard of a house sale tax that you get back in a year.

I would assume any liens against the house would come up in the title search.

They usually have to be satisfied before the sale is final.

How would the state know you sold your house and are moving out of state?
even if something like that existed.

The exit tax is a money held at sale until it is determined if you owe tax on the sale. You will get it back on next years return.

Thank you Sergio for the information.
That's it, just need to file a NJ State Income tax to get reimbursed.
Do you know how much is withheld, 1 percent of sale?
