If you mean Baltimore, there's two tunnels, the Francis Scott Key Bridge, and going around to the west. Or you could avoid I-95 entirely and head down I-81; get there by I-78 or the PA Turnpike depending on where you're starting from.
I don't know if you're serious but Rt. 695 goes around the Baltimore tunnel. Google maps are your friend. Heck even paper maps are your friend. Hopefully you don't get lost, it isn't rocket science.
YES im serious. wth...ok its baltimore tunnel, i just know its in MD. i did the google maps and i cant figure how to avoid the tunnel, it just gives directions through 95
My 17 year old grandson got in the car and takes this thing off the passenger seat of my car and asks me what is it ? I said it's an "original GPS" ...it's called a Road Atlas and it has maps of all 50 states. I told him he needs to learn how to read one.
Depending on where in NC you are going, we always take 78 to Harrisburg PA to 81 through VA and usually get off around Lynchburg to head either towards Raleigh when that is our destination, or to Greenville SC. It takes about an hour longer, but the only toll we have is $1 to cross the Delaware River. Saves a ton of money, driving is easier and sometimes is the same amount of time - especially since 95 gets awful around DC. If you are going to Coastal Carolina, go through the eastern part of MD and then the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. A great drive!
I REALLY DONT want to take the maryland tunnel to get to NC, via 95, is there an alternative route?
thanks in advance
Where In N.J. are you leaving from ? and what part of NC are you heading to ? I have traveled that route several times back and forth from Asheville NC to R.I. Don't do 95 So. if you can help it. I-81 is very scenic, going thru the Shenandoah Valley is beautiful, and if you have time you can hop on and off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
