I have heard that NJ is going to levy taxes on Amazon and other internet purchases.

Does anyone know about it? Thanks,

Yeah I just noticed the tax on my last Amazon purchase. That's because Amazon is building a huge distribution center in Robbinsville, NJ. Never heard of that town. At least shipping will be quicker.

I also heard that Amazon will soon tax all states and to make up for that they will offer same day delivery. I guess that depends on where you live.

Wal-mart must be scared.

It's exit 7 off route 195. The only reason I know that is because North Star vet hospital is there and they are the only after hours emergency animal hospital in the area that sees exotics. Beautiful hospital. Don't really know much about the town though. I didn't know Amazon was building there - the residents must be thrilled.

It's very simple really. If a company has a physical presence in a state, then they must collect sales tax for that state.

In the case of Amazon and their upcoming distribution center in NJ, I'm sure that there was some quid pro quo in connection with them being granted a huge tax deferment for this new facility. That quid pro quo likely included collecting NJ sales taxes prior to completion of this facility in Robbinsville.

Damn! I loved my little tax holiday when ordering from Amazon. I'll still use them though because they are SUPER convenient, especially with prime. At least they're bringing jobs to NJ

Yeah but not high paying jobs. Anyway a job is a job I guess...

Still upset about Hoffman La Roche leaving Nutley and NJ.

And Panasonic is leaving Secaucus for Newark who are giving them big tax breaks, at least they are staying in state.
