Hi all,

My boyfriend and I are heading to Belmar next Thursday, but we'd like to avoid the GSP traffic. Is there street parking if we go in the afternoon, or is it like the weekends where we have to get up early to beat traffic and get a spot? We were thinking of going there early afternoon and then leaving in the evening.

Our other plan was to go in the morning (around 9) and then come back early afternoon, but we'd prefer to avoid waking up early

Thanks in advance!

GSP traffic is sorta tricky, for instance yesterday for some reason the GSP was bad but today its back to normal. Suggest scanning the traffic with your map thing on your phone beforehand and or using Rt 18 if the traffic is funkified. 18 is usually clear sailing when the G is jammed.

Usually during the week traffic is not bad. Can't help with the intown parking. Someone else will have to chime in on that.

Being unemployed for a while last year and a year before that I would go to Belmar or any beach during the day and it is the best time to go. Traffic is almost nonexistent but accidents happen, but you can park easier and sit almost anywhere on the beach.

during the week you should have no problems finding a parking spot close to the beach and they are spots on next to the boardwalk that require you to pay the parking meter til 7pm. this all depends on how nice the weather is though. on a nice beach day you may have to hunt a little bit to find a close spot compared to less than ideal conditions.
