The link won't open for me, but if it's a band of wandering hoodlums randomly knocking people over, no I have not encountered it but they did do a piece on it this morning on the New York news stations.
I would think it's more of an urban thing and I don't live in an urban area.
It's really disgusting. So far Jersey City and Newark have been where it's been taking place. The victims have included just about everyone even in once case a mother walking with her child. And a lot of it in broad day light not in the middle of the night or in some dark alley. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!. I don't want to be that guy but this type of behavior makes me profile sadly. Don't blame me when I cross to the other side of the street. I have a family to think about

Oh great so I need to worry about my 74 year old uncle walking down Westside Ave in Jersey City and some hood rat knocking him to the ground?? They need to round these hoodlums up and throw them in jail....
This dangerous, "game", seems to be most common in NYC, and there, it is a 100% anti-Semitic phenomenon. In the incidents that took place in Brooklyn, every one of the victims was male and Jewish, ranging in age from children to middle-agers.
Gotta say I've known about a variance of this ridiculous action for most of my life. I hung out with idiots in the city when I was a teen that did this. Its stupid, done by idiots with nothing better to do. That being said, the media is in on it now which will make it a phenomena and probably extend the idea to other idiots in other areas. Instead of helping it go away it only manages to draw more attention to it.
Disgusting. Part of this is the way NJ and certain other states treat violent "juvenile" offenders with therapy and ice cream. If you're over 13 and caught playing this "game" it should be a minimum 5 year adult prison sentence.
