The projects are right off of rte 440 and Duncan.

The projects are well below West Side Ave, that said it makes no difference as the hooligans are back & forth from the projects to Westside all day & night.

The last time I drove down Duncan to go to 440 to head out to the Charlotte circle I DID NOT stay stopped at the light there...looked both ways and took off...a ticket would have been much cheaper then my life

Sad as I remember back in the late 60's running up to the corner of Westside & Duncan at 10 pm to get my Dad the Daily News sold on the corner by newsboys and then going around the corner to the Bagel place to get some fresh bagels for breakfast.
Never once worrying about my safety

are those the projects on the northbound side of 440, across from the driving range (well, if it's still there)? if so, i was driving on 440 right around there, and some a'hole kid threw a rock at my car from the overpass - luckily it missed. not a good area.

jm - are you still a JC cop?

Off the topic for a moment...
The Driving Range?!?!?!
I used to play on the pitch and putt 9 hole golf course there. One day I hit a ball off of the fifth tee and it sailed over towards the swampy area that was at the end of the course. When I walked over to find the ball I saw rats. HUGE rats. Rottweiler-size rats.

OK, back to the topic...

rough area, i used to go to saint peters college and i lived off of storms ave. that corner of duncan and westside is notorious for stick up kids...they used to rob students and just about anybody else on a daily basis. I remember even on campus, once this dude from duncan projects came through pointing a gun at somebody because his boy was being harrassed. Good barbershop on that corner, but it depends on what style you want. Restaurants? lots of fast food...
