I just received a job offer in Soho (3 blocks off the Spring St. Subway station). I'm from south jersey and looking to relocate to north jersey. I found a great apartment in Caldwell but don't know much about the area and how the commute would be. Any insight on the commute time to soho, most efficient way to get there, the caldwell area, etc. would be great. Thanks!

www.njtransit.com has "trip planner" & "service near a location" functions that may be helpful.

Coach Coach USA also runs buses from some NJ towns to the City.

That commute is do-able but is more than a bit of a PITA. There is private bus service that you can get on Bloomfield Ave which takes you to the PABT, from there you'd have to switch to the subway or bus to get to SoHo, which will involve at least one subway/bus transfer if not more. You can also take the NJ transit bus #29 that runs down Bloomfield ave Broad St Station in Newark and then transfer to the Light rail to get to the PATH to get to lower Manhattan, then transfer again to get to SoHo. You are looking at a commute time of over 1.5 hours each way, with either the DeCamp bus to the PABT, or the #29 NJ transit bus to Newark,(and the switching to PATH and the either subway or bus to your work location) I say find a different apt closer to NYC and save yourself the hassle and expense.
