I dont know if anyone here has used a company to install christmas lights, but if so, please share you experience. Googling names, I seem to have found 2 that work in Bergen County:
It will be our sons first Christmas and my wife has been on my ass to decorate the house. I work Monday-Friday and prefer to watch football on weekends, rather than spend 2 days hanging lights. So I was debating hiring a company to do it for me. Curious if anyone has used either company, or can recommend one, and what the approximate cost was. I have called both compnaies but both have been evasive when I ask for the typical cost. They both say we work within your budget... well wtf is my budget if I dont know what this would cost. I was debating saying 1,000 budget, but I dont know if that is way to high or way to low.
I'm sorry that I can't supply any names of Xmas light installation companies for you, but perhaps I can help you feel a bit better about your perception that you are lazy. Laziness is apparently a wide-spread phenomenon nowadays. For example, I tried to buy pumpkin carving tools at Michael's craft store, and I was cheerily told, "We no longer carry them, but we can carve your pumpkin for you for $19.99!"
So, I went to Aldi, and bought the items that I needed for $3.50.
I really have to wonder about how many people are now so lazy that they pay somebody else ~$20 to carve a pumpkin for them.
Usually the sketchy signs advertising this service pop up on telephone poles around Black Friday. Look for the ones posted next to the following:
"WORK FROM HOME! MAKE $2000 A WEEK!"
"MASSAGE"
"I BUY HOUSES-CASH-QUICK CLOSE"

I can't see how anyone could see themselves paying $1000 for someone to hang Christmas lights. Of course, I can't figure out why people pay other people to mow their lawns, rake their leaves, or change their oil either
lol, thank you for the pick me up. I will be carving a pumpkin this year, so my lazyness ebbs and flows. My son is 7 months old, so he can mash his hands in the pumpkin at least. However in November he will only be 9 months old, so I cant see how he would help with xmas lights. Once he's older I will go back to doing it myself, with his help. But as for now, outsourcing seems the best option.

i thought the whole point of carving pumpkins was to be a fun activity for kids. who needs a carved pumpkin outside their house?
You skip right over Thanksgiving like it's friggin Flag Day or something! Thanksgiving should be every man's favorite holiday. You sound young so let me break it down for you:
- little to no decorating involved,
- you don't have to cook unless you like that sort of thing,
- one day you can eat & drink like a pig guilt-free,
- hours & hours of football on the teevee
Maybe you have to set up a few tables or folding chairs. Wash a dish or two to not look like a total freeloader. But that's it! Awesome holiday.
