Lawmaker: Let N.J. legislators, judges carry handguns | NJ.com

You have got to be kidding me...

The state legislature that has for years, not only stonewalled the right to carry for rank and file citizens, but has actually made it increasingly onerous, difficult, and frankly, dangerous, to own a gun in NJ, is now proposing to declare its members a "special class" worthy of protecting themselves, while the rest of us are expected to rely on a sock full of quarters or a sharp stick

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others"
-George Orwell

But they are special, godlike if you will. We must not question their authority and superiority over us peons. After all, they know what is best for us - they must know better because many have made careers out of their positions and we the people seem to love them.

That is one of my favorite literary quotations, and I use it fairly frequently when commenting on inequality in the workplace, or in government, or in other settings.

Gives a whole new meaning to being robbed in traffic court.

Wonder if judges can choose and pay for their own weapon or will the taxpayers provide them with standard issue sidearms.

Obama told us the states with the tightest gun laws are the safest, so why do judges need to arm themselves for protection? Are they saying Obama is a liar?

"We know that states with the most gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths. So the notion that gun laws don’t work, or just will make it harder for law-abiding citizens and criminals will still get their guns is not borne out by the evidence.”

nice to be a judge.....

"The State Supreme Court this morning ruled that judges do not have to pay more for the pensions and health benefits. This is a defeat for Governor Chris Christie, but one he saw coming. Last year, Hudson County judge Paul DePascale sued the state claiming the new law requiring judges to contribute more for the pensions and health violated another law that says, once established judges salaries cannot be reduced."

while dems own both houses, gun laws will continue to flourish while the daily death toll in Newark and sister cities grows in the state with toughest gun laws. Judges driving fancy cars at malls at Christmas time have no need to worry about being carjacked! It will make NJ crime stats look better.

Though without being armed, judges may consider the impact of plea deals and repeat offenders and actually enforce the law instead of hanging citizens for administrative violations.

Now, judges and gang members are declared immune from the essence of NJ firearm legislation which governs NJ citizens.

Iron Mike and part time judge and prosecutor Nick Bissell two great examples of judges deserving special consideration.

Elitist, soul selling NJ legislators continue their attack on gun rights by insisting on passing legislation that is ineffective in saving the statistical 2.5 people from Newark who will not be with us next week.......

"Sweeney, a Democrat, last year blocked the Assembly-backed bill, which would reduce the legal capacity of magazines from 15 rounds to 10. His district - which includes rural parts of Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland Counties - has a sizable constituency of gun owners and is generally more conservative than those represented by some of his fellow Democrats."

Elitist liberal mindset that cannot find their adz with booth hands is as inept at finding middle ground betwen extremes. Why not grant judges a permit who have been threatened, instead of broadcasting permits to any judge or part time judge regardless of situation. By declaring all judges in need of protection it provides a rationale for a raise in their pension and healthcare bennies and not raise their rquired contributions that rise for everyone else.

Your Lords and Masters are not to be compared to the rest of the rabble populating this state. They get special privileges.

Maybe this is why they want to arm judges?

Monday, Nov. 4, 1974 was a dark day in history of the Borough of Wanaque. Municipal Judge Joseph Crescente was assassinated by a sniper's bullet. As reported two days later in Suburban Trends, borough resident David Vervaet, 19, was arraigned the next day in Passaic County court and charged with the homicide.

Of course about 40+yrs too late.

Pretty much. Years ago, when going to jury duty in Camden, I had one of those eyeglass repair kits with the tiny screwdriver in my purse because I wear eyeglasses. The guards confiscated it.
