I support the Wright of Open Carry of handguns, but my preference is for Carry Conceal. But I think this is a step in the right direction for Texas.

A step in the right direction......How far do you want to go? Here in AZ. we have both open and concealed. I've never seen a problem or an issue. People carry concealed in social traffic and open when they're in the desert.
Shouldn't be a problem, except you never know what any given Texan will do next. Sometimes they go for cigarettes and never come back. I've heard worse than that, even.

I can still remember when concealed carry came before the legislature.... The howls could be heard all over the state. "There will be blood running in the streets". Strangely enough that never happened.. Imaging that. I favor open carry although for the most part I carry concealed. There are times in Texas however when concealment is a bit impractical. Ever worn a coat in July to conceal your handgun?

Carry Conceal is allowed, but not Open Carry, I still think the choice should be up to the person carrying.

Same here, I don't follow Texas gun laws, but I thought it was an open carry anything kind of state.

I will probably still prefer concealed carry most of the time, but there are times when concealed just plain isn't practical...

Not at all. Prior to this, Texas was very much in the minority Map: Where Is ‘Open Carry’ Legal? - The Numbers - WSJ. I'm not a gun person, member of the NRA, or whatever. I think the reason why this is getting so much attention is because it's Texas. People are acting as if this is breaking some new ground, yet Texas has had some of the strictest gun laws in the country! I wonder if folks from other states have looked at their own laws. Anyhow, I'm on the fence about this issue. Just want people to be aware that Texas, when this is signed (it will be) is not venturing into unknown territory.
