I finally got a job with just one week remaining on my Unemployment Benefits. The thing is I will be paid bi-weekly. So I have to wait 2 weeks for my first check. I've barely been making ends meat now and I have to travel a little for the job.

My question is, do I claim the final benefits check? Will I be investigated? How much trouble can I get into? Can I just say I made a mistake and repay it in a few weeks?

Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure how much help you're going to get with breaking the law. Especially since UI is taken out of everyone's paycheck.

How much trouble can you get into for committing fraud? You can try and I hope you tell us.

The more disturbing issue is that you have no personal ethical problems with taking money that isn't yours.
