I would do my own research on school systems. Paramus is good but not great. If you want a top 10 school system in Bergen county, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Coming from CA it's very easy to find places to rent that accept pet.

Is it the same in NJ or would you expect a tougher time finding a place to rent that accepts pets?

Ridgefield Park is a nice Village, its a very safe area, good schools and has a wealth of extracurricular programs for children. Its close in proximity to all the highways and very close to shopping areas. An advantage over other towns is there is overnight street parking, many other towns don't permit it. I have to say the services provided to residents are all free and excellent.... much better than most surrounding towns. Rentals go very quickly and your price range would work fine for a home rental and a two family would be in the $1600 to $1800 range . Paramus is a great town, good schools, I don't know about extracurricular programs ... there is a great deal of traffic in Paramus. Any town north of Paramus are good towns but you have to go through Paramus to get to Ridgefield Park. New Milford is a nice town, but floods in certain areas. As far as school systems I'd stay away from Bogota, Little Ferry, Hackensack, Bergenfield, Englewood, Garfield and Lodi.... probably Teaneck too. Maywood is nice, but they go to Hackensack HS. Teaneck has its good areas and not so good areas and you have to pay for all services.

Your school characterizations are suspect. Per great schools, Teaneck is rated a 5 and Ridgefield Park is a 4. Most of the other towns you advise to stay away from have similar school ratings to RPark who you claim has good schools, even more funny, Ridgefield Park shares a high school with Little Ferry.
