Both these places were affordable and up and coming, safe, and they got rid of the only supermarkets in those locations? All of downtown JC to McGinley Square now has ONE shoprite downtown to shop at? How the **** does that work?
I don't know about CTown, but there are no more Pathmarks anywhere. They are gone in South NJ and LI too. Not JC's fault, I agree that it makes living in JC difficult, the nearest supermarket besides Shoprite in downtown JC is the one in Bayonne (which isn't all that close).
Can't argue there. Also there is a Key Food in downtown JC if I recall correctly. That Pathmark was pretty awful, then again weren't most Pathmarks? Still it is better than having almost nowhere to buy food with walking distance or a reasonable bus ride.
Since C-Town is essentially a ghetto supermarket chain, the departure of the C-Town store from that part of Jersey City might be a sign that the area is becoming too gentrified for their business model.

While I agree that C-Town isn't a great supermarket I strongly disagree that that part of JC is too gentrified for it. C-Town is in places as diverse as Astoria, Bayonne, Forest Hills, etc... and I would hardly say that JC outside of downtown is nicer than any of those places. Just my opinion though.
