I have recently moved to west orange, nj and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good hair salon for black/african american hair. I have found a couple of dominican places in newark, but wanted to know if there was anything closer, like in south orange. I would like a place with someone who can take very good care of my hair. No need for the fancy stuff, like braids or weaves. I just want a person to promote healthy, strong hair care and who is good with relaxers.

If Maplewood isnt too far for you..check out Burjazz and ask for Tamika Fields (owner) . Words can't explain how satisfied I was with her and haircare and hairstyles. Unfortunately, I just moved to Orlando and just recently found a salon..well..i just made an appointment and hope to God they can hook me up. I know I will never find someone as good as Tamika..but a sista has to get her do done!
Her number is 973-762-0004..you will not be disappointed! I've had woman both black and hispanic stop in me in the streets to compliment my hairstyle. I always refer them to her. She's amazing! Good luck!
Try Shades Hair Studio in Livingston for Black quality Haircare. My stylist is Jennifer but they are all good there, very professional & positive environment. 973-533-0896
Hello I can refer u to a great salon in Montclair. It's called Salon Femi. THe great thing abt them is they specialize in "hair care" they use top of the line products. I would recommend a stylist named "Dujour" she has growing hands. this girl can even make the kinkiest natural look like a relaxer, the hair will move and will not be weighed down with grease like most salons do it. SHe's also the most professional and she is fast. Very nice spirit. so if u ever want to try another salon. call and ask for Dujour. the salon # is 973-783-7999. Trust me you will love her.
