Which town has a shorter commute to downtown? Either by driving or public transportation? I know tenafly is near the GWB but it seems sort of hard to get anywhere from Tenafly so while in mileage it is close, I am curious if it is actually harder to get to NYC from Tenafly.

Also, I know that Tenafly has a decent size Jewish population - how about Ridgewood? We are an interfaith family and I am wondering if there is a Jewish population in Ridgewood. We don't need a large one but just so that my kids aren't the only ones in their class with a Jewish background.

Thanks!

Not sure about commute from Tenafly. Your best bet wold be to actually try it and see how long it would take you.

Commuting from Ridgewood, you would take a train to Hoboken and then PATH downtown. The whole trip should take you about an hour, maybe less - depending on where you are in Ridgewood and where you are in the city.

There is a sizable Jewish popuation in Ridgewood. That would not be a problem. Ridgewood also has a Temple in town (conservative).

If you drive from Tenafly bear in mind the backup on the GW Bridge is tough. The traffic is usually heavy between 7:00 until about 9:30. Publc transportation would be a bus into the Port Authority (42 ST & 8th Ave) and then a subway downtown. I would plan on 1hour 15 min to 1 hr. 30 min. That is hoping the busses are running on time. Good luck on your decision.
