I don't know about garages in the area, but street parking is a pain anywhere in Hoboken.

That's a tough spot to be in being right in the middle of Hoboken. Seems like all the parking garages are way uptown or way downtown. If she's not coming home too late during the week, street parking may still be an option.

Aside from that Cake Boss bakery I don't recall ever running into tourists in Hoboken.

As soon as she moves to Hoboken, she can apply for a resident parking permit at city hall (needs proof of residency like utility bills). It depends on her working hours, but we park 2 cars on the street daily and after you get used to it, it's no big deal. We have a garage space, but we let our nanny park there because she's not a resident and can't get a parking sticker.

There's always more parking towards the back of Hoboken. If she wants a paid parking spot, the cheapest garage in town is the one at 13th and Jefferson. When my mother comes for a week, we park her car there. There are also municipal lots and garages around town that she can apply for a monthly paid spot after she is a resident.

To pps: Tourists or visitors can get cheap visitor parking passes at City Hall. Obviously, by the time you go to city hall, wait in line, buy the pass, go find a parking spot--you could have just parked in a garage and saved some trouble. But it IS the cheapest option if you are visiting for a few days.

The worst time is when it snows and everybody get stuck and you're out digging out and then trying to find a spot later and every lot is packed.

Hoboken is poorly designed area for traffic, too many choke points.

My wife's boss pays $1000 a month to park his car in an underground garage.

Screw Hoboken.

Move to the burbs.

Your wife's boss is either lying or a complete idiot. The going rate for garage parking in Hoboken is $200-$350, depending on the garage. And people frequently post their own garage spaces or outdoor reserved spaces on Hoboken FB groups or Craigslist for rent, for anywhere from $150-$250. We rented a garage space from another owner in our building for $200/month for a couple of months for our nanny, before we figured out that we could get a $30 resident street parking permit and park our own car outside and have the nanny take our space.

Even non Hoboken residents can buy a monthly business spot in the Municipal garages for $250-$350 depending on the type of business permit, and all you need is a driver's license and car registration.
