Need some Info about Midland Park - Bergen County (Hackensack: for sale, new home)

I grew up in Bergen County and I know quite a bit about most towns and yet I couldn't tell you a single thing about Midland Park. We found a wonderful home for sale in our budget but I don't know if it is a good place to live.
We live in Midland Park. It is a very small town which I think is nice. It has maybe 6k residents vs 18k for Ridgewood/Wyckoff. There is no "down town" per se but there's plenty of stores and restaurants. It is surrounded mostly by nicer towns (Wyckoff, Ridgewood), Waldwick next door also I would say is roughly similar to Midland Park. I would say basically these 2 towns are just not quite as wealthy as Ridgewood or Wyckoff. The schools, again are no Ridgewood or Wyckoff, but we think they are completely decent. Overall I'd say it's a very safe and town with a nice sense of community. For commuting, there is no train, but plenty of buses.

Schools are a big factor and one of the reasons I am leaving the Maywood/ Rochelle Park area. My town has great schools for the younger years but then the kids go to Hackensack HS. I am looking for a good community and nice upper middle class town as opposed to weathly. We do well for ourselves but we are far from wealthy. I don't want my kids growing up to be the poor ones on the block.
I think Midland Park would be a great town. We have our own high school and I believe it is a good one. I am not a huge fan of comparing SAT scores, but Midland Park overall ranked 48th out of 300+ schools in NJ. That is in Avg student scores. One thing to keep in mind and I don't know how this differs from Maywood / Rochelle Park but Midland PArk is 93% white, so not exactly diverse. Our neighbors have two teenage kids, very nice kids and very hard working in and out of school. They go to school, work, extracurricular activities, share a car they bought themselves...not the kind of town where Mom and Dad buy them a BMW or anything like that!
Looking at 2005 city data numbers, median income is 84k/house cost 477k vs Ridgewood 114k income/721k home value.
NJ It is definitely not poor by any means. I would say it's closer to River Edge than Ridgewood but it is a different feel IMO. Smaller town and slightly more well off I'd say. I posted some of the $$$ info in reply #4.
Taxes. I don't really know if they can be expressed as a percentage (I mean I don't know if it will hold true as you go to higher priced homes), but ours are roughly 1.5% of the assessed value or 3% of the market value which is $6000 on $400,000.
JerseyGirl where abouts is the house you are looking? I am trying to think and I must say I don't know of any new homes going up so you've got me there.
I would prefer to not give out what might become my home adress on a public message board.
I will say one thing I noticed is that there are almost No homes for sale in this town. I was suprised at few were listed.
