While having breakfest this morning, my one daughter (13)she asked what was my best time as a kid. Well that was a tough one to answer. I had many, playing sports , having lots of fun with all my friends as kids. Having lots of vacation with my family, which is what i instill in my own. But most of all my expierences down the jersey shore, which we all have shared that one. Surfclub, The Aztec. I remember watching the girls doll themselves up( which they probably where not legal) work the floor. To see us guy's try to work what we thought was our magic on them. Also club and bar hoping while getting into cars and driving.Thank God the rules are strict today.

I have 4 brothers. One great time I remember is a water pistol fight (while my parents were away) that started outdoors and spilled over indoors!!

How funny that you brought back one of my fondest teenage/young adult memory of The Surf Club. Back in the very early 80's it was my home away from home. I remember getting all glammed up...full face of make-up, high sexy heels, big big hair, and of course all while wearing a bathing suit. Only in NJ did we wear makeup with a bathing suit on!!! I also remember drinking Long Island Ice Teas and my favorite shore drink back then Melonballs. I would just dance all day back then if I could. My favorite other hang out was Harper's in Union. I remember going there under age at 17yrs. old and my girlfriend and I changing our clothes in the car or at a rest stop so our parents didn't know. It was a 21 and older club...we thought our sh** didn't stink. I really miss going out dancing to clubs. Now all everyone does is sit drink and eat.

Bathing suit and high heels How could i have missed that. Harper's, haven't heard of that place in years. At this age would you still dress in heels and a bathing suit on a dance floor?

I must admit 3 1/2 yrs. ago while living in Florida...I did. One thing I really do miss about living in Florida is it's much more carefree. The way I dressed there was "totally" different than what I "have to " wear in NJ(if you want to fit in at least). When you went on a date to a club/bar/resterant there was always music and dancing. Lot's of fun. NJ life is alot more serious and carefree. Okay everyone let's loosen up! LOL

Since I'm 26 and still of the age to go to clubs... I'll bypass teenage years and go even younger...

1st grade. There was an award in school which only fifth graders were eligible for, another 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades were eligible for, and another all were eligible for. What I did that year put me in the level of the second one, but I wasn't eligible. I went and talked to the principal (I would stop by and feed his fish in his office) and plead my case as to why I should be able to get that award. Well, come award ceremony time, I didn't hear my name called for the one I was eligible for. I got excited, thought the plea worked out. Then, the one I hoped for was called.... and I didn't get called up then either.

I was kind of freaked out, didn't know what to think. Why didn't I get either one of those awards? Then, the principal announced the final awards. The one only 5th graders could get. Thats when he called my name.

Talking to him later about it, he was so impressed with me coming up to talk to him about it that he discussed it with the school board, and they decided to give me the highest award. My brother and my parents knew about it, but didn't tell me. They were all there (my brother was in 4th grade at the time), and getting that award and seeing how proud my parents were was definitely a great experience, one I'll remember forever.

Ok CuCullin, I'll forgive the sarcastic remark that your still only 26 and able to go into clubs( hey I can still date guys as youg as you at least), because your story was very sweet. Congrads on the award...I know now as a parent they were very proud of you. By the way, I am a bit jealous of the 26 yr. old thing...but I can still work it out on the dance floor( I'll try to leave my cane at home). LOL

I don't think the cane would look good with the heels and bathing suit. But it's worth a shot.lol
