I was just wondering if you could see Philadelphia and NYC skyline from the route 72 bridge crossing from Manahawkin to LBI. I know you can see Atlantic City (because I've seen that from there), but I've never been able to see Barnegat Lighthouse (old barney). I also wonder if there's any other big towns/landmarks you can see from the bridge.

Atlantic City is probably only 18 miles away from that bridge over water so it's seeable. Parts on South Jersey are 100- 200 feet of elevation through the pine barrens so Philadelphia is out of the picture, NYC is northwest of LBI so I'd say it's impossible.

Not from the bridge. Apple Pie Hill blocks the view of Philly. Hartshorne County Park is hilly (485 ft.) and blocks any possible view of NYC from that height.

Definitely not.

New York City is about 85-90 miles from there. Possibly a bit less just by actual miles and not miles driven. Only Atlantic City is visible, aside from those really poor hazy, hot and humid days, with very poor air quality.

The only New Jersey beach where you can see NYC is Sandy Hook. Possibly Sea Bright, too. NYC is only like 15 miles from Sandy Hook, more if driven.

If you go to Apple Pie Hill and climb the tower there, you can see Atlantic City, Philadelphia and NYC at night.

I've been on a plane a few times where you look out one side and you can see Philly and Atl City out the other side and also have climbed a few radio towers where I can see both,, a few years back.

Curvature of the Earth has to be taken into account over longer distances.

I've only seen Philadelphia from Apple Pie Hill, and that was through pictures online.

I know that you can see Philly and AC, but I've never been up there after dark.

You definitely cannot see NYC at night from the Apple Pie Hill tower.

Doesn't matter anyway, like everything else that was once good and free to the people of the state, it is now permanently closed to the public anyway.

I know for a fact through pictures on google earth that you can see NYC from Sea Bright, and from the Shrewsbury River bridge.
