I'm thinking of taking the train this week to see U2 at MetLife. Does anybody have any recent experience taking the train to MetLife Stadium? All the threads here seem pretty old and a quick google search brings up the horror stories from a few years ago (Super Bowl, U2 in 2009 etc) and some old threads on TripAdvisor.
Is there massive crowding at Secaucus going or at the stadium getting back? Are the schedules posted accurate? Last few times I've been to MetLife, it took at least an hour to get out of the parking lot. Also, the Meadowlands fair is going on, so there will be less parking available.
I will be coming from Ho-Ho-Kus and there seems to be a decent amount of trains after the concert getting home from Secaucus. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
I hear you...do you have an option of driving, parking in one of the "outer" parking lots, and then taking the shuttle? This is what they do for Giants games. I can't speak to mass transit. Never done it.
Good question! I'm going to the U2 concert on 28th also and was asking my friends for experience.
Based on where I live, their advice is for me to take the train from Secaucus junction to Metlife and to plan being at Metlife by 6ish. No idea about crowd at Secaucus station.
went in 09- but was coming from midtown- picked up NJ Transit in Hoboken to avoid the Penn station nightmare...then took it into the stadium- had a seat before the train got too crowded.
Took a care service home from here....you can prob walk there like I did for the event - but use GPS -took me a while without it
