Buying a 22-yr old house in Princeton Junction. Anyone has any good experience with a home inspection company you'd recommend? Thanks.

I wouldn't call that older, really, just not brand new...

Anyways, I always recommend visiting ashi.org, as its the american Society for Home Inspectors, and the best way to find reputable inspectors in your area.

so you didn't go for the Toll Brothers model home? Personally, I think that was a wise decision. Congrats on your house purchase!

Tahiti- I looked at that house this past weekend (open house) and couldn't agree more. It is actually on a .26 acre lot, very close to the neighbours' house. There is nothing in those homes that warrent the large asking price.

CA2NYguy-congrats on your decision to buy a "used" home. I agree with CuCullin, get an inspector through ASHI. The signs I see in the Princeton Jct area are all local inspectors (ASHI) and in the phone book, (Princeton, Hamilton, Ewing etc). If you want some phone numbers, I'll check them out for you.
We had the convenience of having A/E guys from the office inspecting our 50 year old "new" home in Princeton Jct.
What development did you choose?

This cracks me up. My hubby is from LA and really cannot believe that a 28 yr. home (the one we may or may not be in contract with) is not old. By Jersey standards, this home is just a toddler. LOL!

Couldn't agree more we're buying a 1986 home too and for me it's "brand new"

We used Rafi Footerman of Mid Jersey Inspections. He's good & more personal, very accomodating in answering our questions.

that is funny. even homes built in the 50's don't seem 'old' to me.

i mean LA has homes built in the 20's and 30's - what does he think of those?

Default That's not old

A few years back we met a couple on the train just outside of London England. They were very excited and were talling us about the "new" home they had just purchased, it was 250 years old. 22 years old is just a baby, not even broken in yet.
